Context
A City Seen Differently
During my apprenticeship at the City of Salon-de-Provence, a creative initiative was launched: each apprentice was invited to share their own perspective of the city.
Rather than documenting landmarks in a conventional way, I chose to approach the project as a visual exploration, capturing moments, light, textures, and everyday atmospheres that define the soul of the city.
The objective was simple: show Salon not just as a place, but as a feeling.
Concept
Capturing a Personal Vision
Instead of focusing on postcard-perfect imagery, I wandered through the streets with a more instinctive approach.
I looked for:
Warm light reflecting on stone façades
Quiet corners and subtle architectural details
Natural interactions between people and their environment
Atmospheres that felt authentic and lived-in
The idea was to translate my own perception of the city, intimate, calm, and human.
Visual Direction
Warm, Timeless, Textured
In post-production, I deliberately enhanced the emotional tone of the series.
The color grading leans toward slightly warmer temperatures, reinforcing a sense of familiarity and comfort. A subtle grain was added to create a textured, almost nostalgic feel, something reminiscent of old film photography, yet still contemporary.
The intention wasn’t to stylize excessively, but to amplify the mood I experienced while walking through the city.
The result is a warm, timeless aesthetic that bridges documentary realism and artistic interpretation.
Outcome
A Strong Audience Response
The final series was published on the official Instagram account of the City of Salon-de-Provence.
The post quickly became one of the most liked publications on the account, demonstrating how a more personal and artistic approach can resonate strongly, even within institutional communication.
This project reinforced my belief that authenticity and visual sensitivity can transform simple documentation into meaningful storytelling.
